Due to continued demand, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their team in a hands-on role focused on maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement. About the role This position will see you working across plant and production equipment to ensure machinery remains safe, operational, and fit for purpose. The role suits a trade-qualified fitter with proven maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, who can respond to breakdowns, manage preventative maintenance, and contribute to machinery improvement projects. Key responsibilities Carry out breakdown, repair and preventative maintenance on plant and production equipment Overhaul, maintain and repair machinery to ensure equipment performs to specification Troubleshoot mechanical faults and respond promptly to maintenance requests Maintain accurate records through the preventative maintenance / CMMS system Support production reliability by managing spare parts usage and equipment condition reporting Provide technical support and practical problem-solving across the maintenance team Assist with continuous improvement, machinery upgrades and engineering projects Support the training and development of apprentices where required What were looking for Trade qualification in Fitting & Turning / Mechanical Trade Minimum 2 years experience in a similar mechanical maintenance role Good fault-finding ability and a proactive approach to maintenance Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work both autonomously and within a team Highly regarded Experience in the steel manufacturing industry Elevated Work Platform (EWP) and Working at Heights tickets Current Drivers Licence and Forklift ticket Whats on offer $55.00 per hour super Immediate start Ongoing position with potential long-term opportunity Varied role across maintenance, reliability and improvement work Supportive team and established manufacturing environment Apply now If youre a trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter looking for a well-paid opportunity on the South Gold Coast, apply now or contact Marcus Masironi at Hays for a confidential discussion.
